Electronics makers increase appliance prices from October

Major appliance and consumer electronics makers are raising prices by roughly 5–8% from October 1, in what industry sources describe as the third round of hikes this year, citing sustained inflation in inputs such as copper, aluminium, steel and crude oil derivatives, higher freight costs and currency volatility linked to the West Asia conflict. Air conditioners are highlighted for 5–8% increases while some washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs may rise 2–4%; firms including Blue Star, Godrej, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have announced hikes, while Panasonic is still evaluating. The increases overlap the Onam-to-Diwali season that typically accounts for 30–40% of annual sales, which could limit or delay demand.
