Private lawsuits target Google after EU DMA case

A decades-long European crackdown on Google's business practices has entered a new phase after the company lost the first case under the EU Digital Markets Act and was fined $1 billion for favouring its services and blocking developers from steering users away from Google Play. Lawyers and litigation financiers say that finding may prompt a wave of private lawsuits across about half a dozen countries seeking as much as $10 billion, building on past EU fines totalling €10.4 billion and court awards such as Idealo's €465 million damages in Germany. Google disputes the claims, and more cases are being prepared.
