Chinese ai chipmakers raise processor prices
Chinese AI chipmakers including Huawei and Cambricon have sharply increased prices for current and next-generation AI accelerator cards as a global shortage and higher costs for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) squeeze production. Huawei's Ascend 950DT was repriced above ¥250,000, a 20%–50% jump from quotes two months ago, while the 950PR rose from about ¥60,000 to over ¥80,000 and an older 910C board climbed above ¥110,000. Cambricon tentatively raised pricing for its unlaunched 690 by 20%–30%. The shortages follow tightened U.S. export controls on advanced HBM in December 2024 and are forcing allocation reshuffles and higher build costs for AI capacity.
