Opetaia to defend Zuffa and Ring cruiserweight belts

Jai Opetaia, the Ring champion and Zuffa cruiserweight titleholder, is set to defend his belts against WBC champion Noel Mikaelian on Sept. 12 on the Conor Benn vs. Ryan Garcia undercard, streaming on Paramount+. Opetaia is 30-0 with 23 KOs and has a history with the IBF title, having won, been stripped, and later recaptured it before signing with Zuffa and losing IBF recognition after winning the Zuffa belt in March. Mikaelian is 28-3 with 12 KOs and is in his second reign as WBC champion. It is unclear whether Mikaelian's WBC title will be at stake.
