Messi to play final Argentina match on Oct. 6
Argentina confirmed that Lionel Messi will return for a single farewell appearance on Oct. 6 at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, when the team meets Benin in a friendly. The Argentina federation said Messi, plus Inter Miami teammate Rodrigo De Paul and Giovani Lo Celso, will join Lionel Scaloni's squad only for that match. Argentina will play Bolivia on Sept. 30 and Burkina Faso on Oct. 3 before the farewell, and matches will face reduced stadium capacity because of FIFA punishments; Scaloni's contract also remains unrenewed and expires year-end.
Messi will play a final Argentina friendly on Oct. 6.
Context
