Belgium and Netherlands host Hockey World Cup 2026 with new format
The FIH Hockey World Cup 2026, co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands, will run from August 15 to 30 and adopts a new three‑phase format for both men and women. Sixteen teams per gender start in four pools (A–D), then move into crossover pools (E–H) from August 21–24 where phase one results carry forward; the top two from each second‑phase pool progress directly to the semifinals, eliminating quarterfinals. India men are in Pool D with England, Pakistan and Wales; the semis are on August 27–28 and the bronze and final on August 30. Star Sports will broadcast in India and JioHotstar will stream.
