Türkiye completes first lunar spacecraft and begins environmental testing
Türkiye has finished production and assembly of its first lunar spacecraft, a 3.5-metric-ton vehicle now moved to Turkish Aerospace Industries for environmental testing and later final inspections at a new Tubitak cleanroom. The craft uses an 80% domestically produced flight, communications and power suite based on Imece and Turksat 6A projects and a homegrown hybrid propulsion system for orbit raising and a final controlled deceleration burn to the lunar surface. Planned launch from Kennedy Space Center is early 2027, with about two months to reach a 100-kilometer polar orbit and at least three months of scientific operations.
