NASA's Roman Space Telescope is set to launch no earlier than 7:26 a.m. EDT on Aug. 30 atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy from Launch Complex 39A, with a livestream beginning about an hour earlier. The flight will last about 31 minutes and 31 seconds to spacecraft deployment, after which Roman will begin deployments, a midcourse correction and a transit to Lagrange Point 2 roughly 1 million miles from Earth. The observatory will perform deep, sweeping surveys to study dark energy, dark matter, exoplanets and billions of galaxies, with a planned three-month commissioning before science operations and public data sharing.
