Commonwealth Fusion orders high‑temperature superconducting tape from Fujikura
Commonwealth Fusion Systems has placed what it describes as the largest single purchase order of high‑temperature superconducting (HTS) tape with Japan's Fujikura to supply magnets for its ARC fusion power plants, beginning with the Fall Line Fusion Power Station in Virginia. Fujikura is investing to expand manufacturing capacity and deliveries could start within one to two years. CFS said the new order is roughly twice the tape used in Sparc, which contains about 1.5 GA‑m and is nearly complete, and the company expects Sparc to be switched on in 2027 and grid connection for ARC in the early 2030s.
