Yemeni fighting displaces nearly 2,400 families in one day
Yemeni authorities said 2,398 families were newly displaced on Sept. 10, including 823 families in Taiz province and 1,575 in Lahj, raising documented displaced families to 9,746 from 7,348 a day earlier. The executive unit named origins in areas affected by fighting in Taiz, Al-Hudaydah and Yemen's western coast and listed specific districts such as Jabal Habashi, Mocha and Hays. Field teams are registering arrivals, opening schools as shelters in Al-Mudaraba district and coordinating with the UN refugee agency, while urgent needs include shelter, food, water and sanitation. The IOM reported at least 46,000 displaced since last week's escalation.
