President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC and INEC urged a Federal High Court in Abuja to reject former vice president Atiku Abubakar's request to amend an originating summons that seeks to disqualify Tinubu from the 2027 presidential race. The defendants filed counter-affidavits saying the proposed amendment would change the nature of the suit, introduce new reliefs and documents, substitute INEC form references, and attempt to cure a jurisdictional timing defect because Atiku filed on August 14 while the cause arose July 11 under section 285(9); the court set the amendment hearing for October 13.
