India outlines health initiatives at UNGA side meetings
India reiterated its commitment to affordable, accessible healthcare at two UNGA81 side events, with Union Health Secretary Salila Srivastava describing national programmes and partnerships. She detailed over 1.8 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, AB-PMJAY financial protection, free drugs and diagnostics, and the Prime Minister's National Dialysis Programme. India reported more than 900 million unique health identities and over 497 million e-Sanjeevani teleconsultations. On hepatitis and sickle cell disease, officials cited nearly 225 million hepatitis screenings, 1,039 hepatitis treatment centres, and screening of 7.29 crore people under the sickle cell mission, aiming to inform global action and cooperation.
