Red Sea Film Festival cancels 2026 edition amid security and reorganization
Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Film Festival has canceled its sixth edition scheduled for Dec. 3–12, 2026, and will return in the fourth quarter of 2027, the foundation said. Organizers cited a comprehensive review of timing and logistical requirements, set against a sharp escalation in regional security including Houthi attacks and a nearby drone interception, and internal leadership changes after the general manager's exit. The Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Labs will continue and new year-round programming at Culture Square starts in November, but Arab films that required Red Sea regional premieres must now seek alternative festivals such as Marrakech, Doha, El Gouna or Cairo.
