Munich deploys new security technology at Oktoberfest
The 191st Oktoberfest runs from 19 September to 4 October at Munich's Theresienwiese, with more than six million visitors expected over 16 days and new security and crowd-management measures after heavy congestion in 2025. Officials added a coordination room, improved police video networks and 26 AI-assisted cameras to detect dangerous crowd concentrations, alongside around 600 police officers, over 2,000 security staff, stronger entrance checks, drone flight restrictions and vehicle barriers on busy approaches. The festival also introduces new rides and a tent, while beer prices rose to an average €15.61 per litre.
