Massive Attack detained by Singapore police over Palestine flag

British band Massive Attack said its members were detained, isolated and separately questioned after a concert in Singapore where a Palestine flag was displayed amid “Free Palestine” chants. The band reported hotel room searches and temporary passport confiscation after the show at the Star Theatre. Singapore police opened an investigation into a possible breach of licence conditions and said band members Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall were banned from re-entering the country and given stern warnings. Singapore law bars public display of foreign national emblems without a permit and can carry fines or jail; the band defended the action as an impromptu expression.
