Tether invests in Shiga Digital to expand USDT payments
Tether made a strategic investment in Abu Dhabi-headquartered Shiga Digital to expand self-custodial digital asset products across Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Shiga, operating since 2016, offers the Enta wallet with passkeys and biometric authentication and supports USDT, Bitcoin, and tokenized gold, and has processed over $350 million in transactions. The partnership will use Tether's open-source Wallet Development Kit to enable native USDT integration and faster, cheaper cross-border settlements in corridors where local currencies often depreciate and correspondent banking is slow and costly.
Tether and Shiga will enable self-custodial USDT payments in Africa and GCC
