Ethereum schedules Sepolia fork as Glamsterdam test for higher throughput
Ethereum has scheduled an Oct. 6 Sepolia testnet activation for Glamsterdam, a major upgrade that includes EIP-7732 (proposer-builder separation) and EIP-7928 (block-level access lists). The Ethereum Foundation says testing shows a credible 200-million post-Glamsterdam gas-limit floor enabled by ePBS, access-list optimizations, and new state-pricing rules, potentially raising execution capacity. However, Glamsterdam reprices state creation and access, which testing found could break or degrade a small set of existing smart contracts and requires updates to wallets, indexers, and gas estimators. Vitalik Buterin says Hegotá may be the last "normal" fork before a shift toward cryptographic proofs and redesigned consensus.
