BlackRock to tokenize money market fund shares with JPMorgan

2 min read

BlackRock will offer tokenized versions of select European money market funds using JPMorgan's Kinexys blockchain infrastructure, covering pound sterling, euro and US dollar share classes drawn from its Institutional Cash Series, a broader fund range that manages about $311 billion. Each token will represent a share in an underlying money market fund and can be moved around the clock between approved digital wallets; JPMorgan will provide the tokenization infrastructure while remaining the funds' transfer agent. BlackRock said digital wallet providers, corporate treasurers and capital markets participants have shown interest, following its 2024 BUIDL tokenized dollar liquidity fund.
