Victim's relative urges Canada not to end Air India probe
Sanjay Lazar, chairman of the Kanishka Foundation and a survivor of the June 23, 1985 Air India Flight 182 bombing, wrote to Canadian leaders expressing alarm after learning the RCMP may reduce or inactivate the investigation task force. Lazar, who lost his parents and infant sister in the bombing, accused investigators of serious lapses, citing missing evidence, deleted surveillance recordings and witnesses who were killed or threatened, and urged renewal and increase of the USD1-million reward announced in 1995. He asked that, if the RCMP cannot continue, authorities hand the probe to other investigators with necessary expertise to avoid ending the active search for suspects.
