Henley solicited inmates to harm witness

Eugene "Big U" Henley, a Los Angeles Crips leader now jailed and described by prosecutors as running a "mafia-like" enterprise, faces new federal charges after a second superseding indictment alleged he solicited inmates to kill or harm a witness to stop testimony. Henley, who has been in federal custody since March 2025, is accused of asking in June about a housing unit layout and offering payment to two inmates; the indictment adds solicitation to commit a crime of violence and witness tampering to prior racketeering, murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion and fraud counts. He and six co-defendants are set for trial in February 2027.
