Canadian man pleads guilty in international data breach

Connor Moucka pleaded guilty in a U.S. case after authorities said he and co-conspirators used stolen login details to compromise cloud-hosted data from at least 165 companies between February and October 2024. Stolen items included call and text history, banking and payroll records, DEA registration numbers, driver’s licence and passport numbers, and social security numbers. The conspirators received over $2.5 million in ransom payments and Moucka personally received at least $495,000, while affected companies reported more than $9.6 million in losses; sentencing is set for Oct. 27.
