2 min read

Vitol, the Geneva-headquartered oil trader, paid shareholders $5.9 billion in 2025 through its annual buyback, down from a record $10.6 billion in 2024, according to a company filing. The drop accompanies a decline in profits to about $4.2 billion last year, roughly half of the $8.7 billion made in 2024, as markets normalized after a boom period. Total equity attributable to shareholders was $29.1 billion at year-end. The filing also noted a terminated asset transaction with Eni in the Republic of Congo and said the group expects a positive result in 2026.
Vitol cut shareholder payouts to $5.9 billion in 2025.
