GE Vernova wins contract to replace units at Dinorwig plant

GE Vernova has been contracted by First Hydro Company, the ENGIE and La Caisse joint venture, to replace two pumped storage generating units at the Dinorwig station in North Wales as part of a long-term replanting programme covering all six units. The work includes new motor generators, pump turbines and refurbished embedded components plus a new control system and upgraded power supplies, with engineering from GE Vernova sites in Grenoble and Birr and additional parts from Germany, Spain and Switzerland. The programme aims to extend the plant's operating life by at least 25 years and support UK grid stability.
