5 min read

Brookfield announced the completion of its acquisition of Oaktree, concluding a partnership that began in 2019 and fully combining the two firms' platforms. The addition brings Oaktree's credit capabilities across opportunistic credit, real asset credit, asset-backed finance and corporate performing credit into Brookfield's global operations, enlarging its product set and geographic reach across 18 countries. Howard Marks and Bruce Karsh will serve as co-chairs of Oaktree while holding Brookfield roles. The transaction makes the U.S. Brookfield's largest market, with over 60% of employees and nearly half of revenue tied to the country.
