Switzerland and China complete updated free trade deal

Switzerland and China have concluded negotiations on an updated free trade agreement that will expand Swiss access to the Chinese market, allowing 99.8% of Swiss exports to enter China duty free, up from about half previously. The deal, announced by Swiss president Guy Parmelin and China's commerce minister Wang Wentao, also covers rules of origin, trade facilitation, trade in services, digital trade, competition and economic and technical cooperation. China is Switzerland's third biggest trade partner and bilateral trade has risen significantly; the agreement now faces legal review, signing and domestic approval processes.
