IOA hails India men's and women's teams at FIH World Cup
Both India men's and women's national hockey teams are competing at the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026, co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands from 15-30 August. India is the only South Asian nation with both teams in the tournament; the men's side began with a 3-1 win over Wales after qualifying by winning last year's Asia Cup at home, while the women's side drew 2-2 with China after reaching the event via qualifiers and an Asia Cup silver. IOA president P.T. Usha and Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey praised the squads, noting the World Cup offers exposure ahead of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
