Saudi authority authorizes two AI medical software products
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority granted marketing authorization for two Saudi-developed, artificial intelligence-enabled medical software products, Dental IQ and SAARIA, to support dental and ophthalmic diagnosis. The SFDA said it completed a comprehensive regulatory review of technical documentation and clinical evidence and noted the companies enrolled in the Innovative Medical Devices Pathway and conducted local clinical studies. Dental IQ analyzes dental X-rays to help identify caries and periodontal findings, while SAARIA screens retinal images to detect diabetic retinopathy early. The authority required post-marketing clinical follow-up and cautioned that outputs do not replace clinician judgment.
