Polish airports briefly closed as military jets respond to border strikes
On 17 September Lublin Airport and Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport temporarily suspended flights while Polish military aircraft conducted operations in response to Russian jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicle strikes in western Ukraine. Authorities described the measures as preventive and later said Polish airspace had not been violated; ground air defences and radar reconnaissance were also placed on alert. Both airports reopened and scheduled services resumed, but the incident — the third military scramble this week — underlines the potential for short-notice disruptions for passengers using eastern Polish airports close to the Ukraine border.
